LMS is the world leader in elastomeric flow control valves and dispensing systems. LMS employees know that with this title comes responsibility. That's why a group of dedicated employees developed the "Green Team." In order to make LMS more environmentally friendly and to further add focus to AptarGroup's long-standing green initiative, this team of employees meets twice each month to create, develop, and employ new ideas.

Major Efforts

"Swimming" Silicone

In Europe, there are "bottle to bottle" recycling rules. These rules mean that if PET was originally molded into a bottle, it has to become another bottle once it's recycled. This means that the PET needs to stay separate from all other contaminates when processed in a recycling float tank. PET sinks in these recycling tanks and so does standard silicone. This was a problem in the past, because the silicone contaminated the PET for recycling. LMS has worked very hard with its silicone supplier to create "swimming" silicone valves. Unlike standard silicone products, these valves will stay afloat in these recycling tanks, ensuring that PET recycling in Europe stays up to the highest standard. This is just another step LMS is taking to promote recycling globally!

 

 


220% Increase in Shipping Efficiency

Packing, shipping, and other logistical processes can add costs to the customer, especially when LMS is shipping billions of valves every year. Inefficient logistics waste space, increase the use of packing materials, and decrease fuel economy during transportation. In addition to increased cost, these inefficiencies are not environmentally friendly. That is why LMS finds it important to continually improve these processes as much as possible. Now with improved box dimensions, LMS has increased shipping density of our most popular products by 220% per pallet load. This, in small part, helps us maintain pricing to our customers as well as helps us be more environmentally friendly in a time when energy costs are soaring.
